I had a new one sprung on me this week, as I went and checked out the ECMA showcase at the Seahorse on saturday night. The reason I was there was to check out Jill Barber, never having seen her before. She was good, but her style is a bit too shmoopsie for me. Who got me was Carmen Townsend. She is proof positive that the music industry is fucked in the brain. This leads me back to the new one on me. I requested one of her tunes on CKDU today, and very disappointingly, she hasn't recorded an album yet! Or at least she hasn't released one. Here I am, clenching money in my fist, ready to throw it any kind of recording of hers, and I'm stymied.Get to work lady!

She is a sight to behold on-stage rockin out lemme tell ya. I hate it when people try to do this, but I'm gonna say that with a little more crunchyness in the guitars, she and her band might be like a perfect mix between old Heart (as in the first two albums) and Queens of the Stone Age. If you don't believe me, google her, check her myspace, there are 4 songs there. Rough recording, but you'll get the picture.

And apparently there is a kind of demo thing that she used to hand out, so if anyone has that, please let me know or hook me up with it.
